My village is Palluruthy. It is in the Kochi city. It is said that Palluruthy is actually came from the portuguese word "Pallurt". Even the English pronounced like this. A vacant land of sand at Palluruthy is famous and is known as Palluruthy Veli. Veli means open ground. Now the Palluruthy Veli is not to the same area as it was before. It is said that in the past actually Palluruthy Veli was extended from the Sree Bhavaneeswara temple region to the Azhakiya Kavu Bhagavathi Temple. Now only a simple portion of the land is there which is known as Veli. It is also said that Palluruthy Veli was the fighting place for solving problems like revenge lasting for many years. The battle goes on till only one survives.
It is also says that the pool of the Azhakiya Kavu Temple was very big and full of Lotus. Now only a small portion of the pool is left.
